Railings are coated with a black, baked on finish.  Mounting hardware, cuts, holes, and scrapes must be painted with Rust Resistant paint ( not latex).  Railing and Newel Posts are pre-drilled ready for use.  Some building codes require:  Porch, balconies, or raised floor surfaces more than 30" above the floor must have 4" spindle spacing and be at least 36" in height.  Compliance with building codes is the installer's responsibility.
